Meet our Volunteer: Nneka Agha!
In 2015 I graduated with honors from Babcock University in Nigeria, with a degree in International Law and Diplomacy. Prior to that I obtained a French certificate from the University of Burgundy, in Dijon, France under the International Center for French Studies.
Also, in 2015 I was awarded an Introductory Certificate in Arbitration by the chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK division. Later that year I began a compulsory 1year National Youth Service to my country. During that period, I worked at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs and then went ahead to work at Chuks Ikokwu & Co. Solicitors, in which I worked as a paralegal for 9 months.
During the course of my Master's at the University of Massachusetts I served as the secretary of the Peace and Conflict Studies Club. I was also part of the mediation team, and I participated in the 2016 North-East Mediation tournament, which was held at UMASS Lowell. My team ended up taking 3rd place overall amongst 14 other teams from different universities.
In 2017, I interned at the Middlesex Community College Law center for the whole of spring semester. I also took the mediation summer class at Umass Lowell in which I completed a 30 hours Basic mediation skill training course.
Most of my research paper's during my Master's Program focused on issues of gender inequality, Immigration and Terrorism. I'm very passionate about helping and empowering marginalized people.
I recently graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, with my professional option being Conflict Resolution, finishing with a GPA of 3.9. I love meeting people, watching movies and reading books at my leisure. My goal and hope as a peace scholar is to one day be an agent of positive change in the world
