Summer Program

Saturdays, June 22-August 3, 10 a.m. to noon, at ACCL office

With sensitivity to the culture of newcomers from Africa, ACCL's summer program aims to make a profound difference for young people, enabling them to thrive in the Greater Lowell area.

For two hours each Saturday, June 22 through August 3, the following activities will be offered for youth in middle school and high school:

  • Traditional Games — to improve logical thinking, cultural literacy, and self-esteem

  • Visits to local African-owned businesses — to inspire youth about what they can achieve

  • Study Skills — to prepare youth to succeed in school and understand the expectations the school system will have

  • Life Skills — to enable students to manage their own finances, keep a calendar of plans and commitments, and practice good etiquette for online meetings, dining out, and other social situations

  • Community Building — to build bonds of mutual support among youth and their families
