Upcoming Programs

Black History Month

Saturday, February 24, 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. at the ACCL office
ACCL invites community members to hear directly from the senior tour guide of Cape Coast Castle, Robert Morgan Mensah, on FaceTime and possibly a chance to see the Cape Coast Castle itself.
Local community members — including a city councilor-elect, an ACCL intern from UMass Lowell, and others — will share their inspirational stories at the event. They will tell of the resilience they have to overcome struggles and achieve their goals.

Computer Skills Class

Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning February 17, at the ACCL office
ACCL is collaborating with UMass Lowell to offer a second session of our 9-week program in computer skills. Those who attend all 9 classes will receive a certificate and a free computer. The class is open to adults who are immigrants now living in the Greater Lowell area. To sign up, please send an email to info@ACCLowell.org.

After-School Program

Dates and times to be determined

Plans are in the works for an after-school program for children and teenagers, with tutoring, homework help, and African drumming and dancing. ACCL hopes to offer a simultaneous program for parents in English fluency and citizenship preparation. Once the details have been worked out, more information will be posted here.

Community Voices

Fridays, April 26 and May 14, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at ACCL office

We will bring the community together for dialog about community needs and any prevailing issue that concerns the families in the community at large.

Entrepreneurship Class

Spring or Summer 2024 Dates to be determined

ACCL is collaborating with CTI to create an entrepreneurship class so that those who are interested in starting a business can learn how to begin. This free class will meet six times, for about 2 hours each time. Once the details have been worked out, we will send information about how to sign up.

Summer Program

Saturdays, June 29-August 3, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at ACCL office

We will offer six sessions focusing on building community, encouraging self-esteem, and celebrating the cultural heritage of children and young adults from Africa.
