Greetings,
We had a successful First Anniversary Celebration on October 29 2017 held at the Eliot Presbyterian Church. We would like to extend our gratitude to the leadership of Eliot Presbyterian Church for hosting us.
The function was well attended, and the program well organized, thanks to our CEO Gordon Halm. We are grateful for all the sacrifices he has made with minimal resources (both financial and human) to ensure that this function did not flop. Kudos to our CEO for showcasing his exceptional PR attribute by reaching out to numerous donors for funding and community leaders for support!
We would also like to thank all of you who volunteered to help before, during, and after the event. We wish to convey our gratitude to all who contributed to the program publication, especially Sarah Comtois for her hours of arduous work.
We continue extending our gratitude to all the wonderful people who made invaluable contributions: Rev. Heather Prince Doss for being a wonderful MC; our guest speakers, Karen Frederick, Executive Director of CTI; Ingrid Markman LICSW, of the Lowell School Department; Fundi Bokosa from the Congolese community, Cecilia Idika-Kalu, UMass Lowell graduate student, and to first grader Songolo for reading his wonderful poem “Reach Out to the Refugee Child.”
Thank you to all who helped with the hall decoration and set up, the catering, the performances, the registration desk, the welcoming of guests, and everyone that worked behind the scenes to make it a success!
Thank you to all who attended, purchased tickets, and donated money. Your time and intellect were essential in making things happen. A big thank you to all our esteemed guests of honor, including speaker Sarah Dryden Peterson, distinguished Harvard professor who brought along her family to our event as well. We want to thank them for taking the time out of their very busy schedules to come and support us and celebrate with us.
The icing on the cake was the signing of a partnership between the Asian American Association of Boston and our very own African Community Center of Lowell. It was epic!
To our board members, thank you for your consistent support, without which this center would not stand.
This is just the beginning of greatness! Greater things are yet to come, greater things are yet to be done in this Center, God willing!
